Nonzuzo Gxekwa is a self-taught photographer from Ladysmith, KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
Her approach to photography favours every day over the spectacular, sharing interesting and intimate moments by focusing the camera on what is around her, as well as herself.
Whether it is through street photography or studio, her work explores the human condition in subtle beautiful ways. Collaboration is a crucial part of her practice, she has collaborated with several photographers and artists in Johannesburg. She is constantly growing, learning and finding her inspiration from simple everyday life and nature
"It's about reacting to what you see, hopefully without preconception. You can find pictures anywhere. It's simply a matter of noticing things and organising them. You just have to care about what's around you”.
