Theodore Martin travelled the world when he was younger, as he worked for an airline. This is where his love for photography developed. During his travels overseas, Theodore would take images of what he saw around him and was fascinated by people, buildings and fashion.
In the early 2000’s he joined the Market Photo Workshop to do a course in photography. A few years later he shifted his gaze towards Black Masculinity and representation as a subject matter. His focus now is on photographing the black male and his body; his aim is to reconstruct how a black male body is viewed, to deconstruct the stereotyping of how the white world – both male and female – have looked at a black male body.
