Plastic has been termed as environmentally unfriendly, but traders in Kariobangi light industries in Nairobi have a different opinion. They feel that it is difficult to live without plastic. They believe that, if well managed, plastics are so helpful. The locals have come up with a solution by collecting the unused plastics and recycling them to usable products ranging from building poles, shoe soles and even mold the plastic to come with kitchen utensils and basins. This group fetch billions of shillings and many are employed on the recycling sector.
